Panhel Awards

The women who belong to the sororities at the University of Toronto, are the best on campus, and we want to celebrate that! The thirteen awards presented by the Panhellenic Council are an exciting way to recognize the outstanding achievements of chapters and members.

Each chapter has the task of nominating someone for each award. Once the nominations are collected, they are reviewed and voted on by the Panhellenic Delegates of each chapter during a Panhellenic Council meeting. 

Alumna Appreciation 

This award is given to any alumna that has stood out for doing an exceptional job in the past year. This is an opportunity to recognize an alumna who has gone above and beyond in making continuing contributions to collegiate sorority/fraternity experience. Generously donated by ΓΦΒ, Alpha Alpha Chapter.

Gloria Legrow Woman of the Year

This award is given to any collegiate woman who has stood out in the past year. This woman may be recognized for outstanding contribution to her chapter, the campus and the community, and for her achievements in her scholastic and/or professional life. Generously donated by the Toronto Area Alumnae Panhellenic (TAAP).

Most Improved Chapter

This award is given to the chapter that has shown the most improvement in multiple areas. This may include: improvements in membership recruitment and retention, scholarship, attendance, programming and philanthropy; and, recognition of the methods by which they have made the recent improvements. For this award, houses may not nominate for their own chapter. Generously donated by KKΓ, Beta Psi Chapter.

Most Innovative (One-Time) Programming

This award is given to the chapter that held the most innovative event in the past year. This award recognizes a chapter’s efforts for educational and/ or fun member development achieved in an effective manner.

Panhellenic Spirit

This award is given to the chapter that has shown that they best embody the ideals of the

National Panhellenic Conference. Beyond the delegate, the chapter as a whole has contributed to the success of the Panhellenic Council and sororities on campus. This may include exceptional contributions to Panhellenic events, public relations, outstanding support to other sororities in their endeavors, and the positive representation of fraternity women. For this award, houses may not nominate for their own chapter. Generously donated by ΑΓΔ, Tau Chapter. 

Outstanding President 

This award is given to one of the chapter presidents for the year of 2023. This woman may be recognized for her leadership within her chapter, and contributions in her chapter and in the community during her time as president. Generously donated by ΑΟΠ, Beta Tau Chapter.

Outstanding New Member Programming 

This award is given to the chapter, which has been exceptional in its new member programming. This chapter has a new member program that welcomes, includes, and develops new members in the ideals that Panhellenic women strive to represent. Nominations should take into account

the retention rate of those members, as well as the contributions those New Members are

making to the success of the chapter.

Outstanding Philanthropy 

This award is given to the chapter that has shown the most dedication towards philanthropy. This nomination may include but should not be limited to monetary achievements. Include descriptions of how the chapter has participated in innovative and action-based philanthropic endeavors, and has stood out in community service. For this award, houses may not nominate for their own chapter. Generously donated by ΠΒΦ , Ontario Alpha Chapter.

Outstanding Continuous Open Recruitment (COR)

This award is given to the chapter that excels in continuous open recruitment. This chapter

has achieved notable success in C.O.R., followed with retention, and has welcomed and included new members into the chapter.

Most Outstanding Chapter

This award is given to the chapter that has excelled in multiple areas. This may include

membership recruitment and retention, member development, scholarship, attendance,

programming and philanthropy, and innovative methods by which the chapter has excelled. For this award, houses may not nominate for their own chapter. Generously donated by ΑΦ , Xi Chapter.

Outstanding Recruitment

This award is given to the chapter which demonstrated the most success during Partially

Structured Recruitment and in member retention.

Panhellenic Council Officer of the Year

This award is given to a member of the Panhellenic Council who has stood out serving as an officer in the past year.

Outstanding Scholarship

This award is given to the chapter with an exceptional GPA and outstanding academic

programming. Each chapter must submit the chapter average GPA for the Fall 2023 term

to be considered. Generously donated by Tri Delta, Canada Alpha Chapter.

Alpha Order Recognition Award

The Panhellenic Council also recognizes the many sorority women who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
